“We could certainly have people who are better informed and more critical of the impact of technologies”
Abstract
María Belén Albornoz shares in this interview her background in the field of Science, Technology and Society Studies (STS). She refers first to the conversations with researchers from different countries academic traditions, and then to her experience in the field of public policy, while offering her view of the STS field in Ecuador and Latin America. Asked about research agendas and the importance of the STS studies, Albornoz points out that the COVID-19 pandemic was an exceptional process that highlighted the close relationship between technologies and society, as well as the role of the State as a key factor in the stabilization of technologies. Albornoz promotes a critical look at technology, both for the field of study and for society.
