Abstract
Mathematical education as a scientific discipline faces mathematics from diverse educational contexts. In the particular case of a classroom, one of its working objects is the study of strategies for mathematics teaching and learning. This paper presents some elements leading to think about the modeling process as a teaching strategy to tackle the construction of mathematical concepts in the classroom. Such elements become a progress of the research project called The modeling process in school mathematics developed by the Universidad de Antioquia with the support of ITM's Adult education program.
